I have been in Calicut for the past two months.

It is for the birth of my second child.

We come here to deliver our kids because my wife is from here.

Even though she was not born here, she lived her entire life before our marriage here.

Her schooling, her college, her friends. Everything.

So Calicut is pretty much a home for my wife and we come here from time to time and stay with her family for some time regularly.

In case you don’t know this, my family consists of my mum and dad and my five other siblings.

All of us are married except for my younger brother.

My sister, the eldest among us lives in Dubai with her husband and kids.

My eldest brother is married with one kid, and his wife and kid and in-laws live in Mumbai.

My second eldest brother lives in Bangalore with his wife, kids, and my unmarried younger brother.

My third eldest brother lives in Mangalore with his wife and kids.

I lived in Bangalore with my elder brother for ten years until I quit my job one year ago. I am currently working remotely as a freelancer from wherever I choose to be.

My parents don’t live in one place.

They keep alternating between places.

They live in our hometown in Karnataka for some time, then with my brother in Mangalore for some time, and then my brother in Bangalore for some time.

That is their life.

So for the past few months, they lived in town.

Then they went to Mangalore.

And now they are going to Bangalore.

My brother from Banglore went to Mangalore to pick up our parents and instead of going back to Bangalore directly, he had a plan.

He wanted us all to go to Ooty for a day or two for our family retreat. This plan fell apart, and then he was like, let us visit Ammar in Calicut and go back to Bangalore from there.

So he and his wife and kids along with my mum and dad are coming to visit me in Calicut.

They left Mangalore last night.

They are due to reach here in the morning to meet me and to see my newly born baby girl.

They will reach here in the morning, spend their day here, and head to Bangalore at night.

We are all expecting them.

I am excited for their visit.

My in-laws are eagerly expecting them.

My son has no idea they are coming and when he sees them in the morning, he will be the happiest of all.

My son is a people person.

He gets super-excited in the company of people.

And when he sees the people he loves the most, his happiness will know no bounds tomorrow.

My son loves the company of my brother’s kids.

When in Bangalore, whenever I used to take him to my brother’s home, he would be the happiest.

They too love his company and play with him.

My nieces and nephews are all heart for me too.

Whenever I meet and visit them even when in Bangalore, they would get super excited.

They would come running towards me.

They would scream my name in joy.

I don’t always like my life in Calicut.

It is a completely different life for me whenever I visit here.

Most of the time, living longer than a certain period has filled me with pain here as I don’t have the facilities that I have in my town in Karnataka and Bangalore.

So my family coming to meet me here even for a day would be a good experience and a good time for me here.

My brother, instead of wanting to come here, wanted us all to go directly to Ooty for a family retreat but my mum was like, Ooty or not, we are all going to Calicut for my granddaughter baby girl.

I was done with my current Calicut visit sometime back and I wanted to go to my town.

But knowing my family’s plan to visit me here, I extended my stay here.

I will be going to my town after my family leaves for Bangalore and that will mark the end of my current Calicut visit.
